Justin Way is an arts administrator and freelance trumpet player currently residing in Philadelphia. As an administrator, Justin serves as the Operations Manager for the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra where he helps oversee five ensembles and over 200 students. He also serves as a Marketing Associate for KV 265 - Science & Symphony Films who seek to communicate science through the visual and performing arts all over the world. As a performer, Justin has appeared with the Helena Symphony, Columbus (Georgia) Symphony, and Tallahassee Symphony. He can also be heard on the music for the film Cordelia by Tunde Kelani as well as on an upcoming album featuring the music of Mark Haggerty and his work United Sounds of America.

Justin holds degrees from the University of Delaware where he completed his Master’s degree in trumpet performance under the direction of Mark Clodfelter and from Florida State University where he completed his bachelors degree under the instruction of Dr. Christopher Moore. Justin’s other principal teachers have been Dr. Peter Wood and Dr. Thomas Miller. At the University of Delaware, Justin was recruited to be one of two trumpets for the inaugural graduate brass ensemble in residence program with the brass quintet, Blue Diamond Brass.

Justin has earned numerous awards and recognition for his solo playing. He has appeared as a finalist in the International Trumpet Guild Young Artist Competition as well as four appearances in the National Trumpet Competition in both the undergraduate and graduate competitions. He was the runner up in the Brian Goff Solo Competition at Florida State as well as a finalist in the Florida State Solo Competition. His playing has been described as an “impressive display of young talent” and playing with “impressive rhythmic handling” by the International Trumpet Guild. He has participated in the Monteux School and Music Festival for several years and attended the Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar.

As an educator, Justin has presented educational recitals and clinics as both a soloist and as part of the Blue Diamond Brass. These include guest recitals, clinics, and masterclasses at numerous high schools and middle schools across the northeast, as well as Delaware State University, Indiana University at Pennsylvania, and the University of Delaware.
